Bruno Tyler’s Playful Spaces

Published by admin under In the world of art and tech

Playful Space by artist Bruno Tyler is a video clip of his work we’d love to see here in Pittsburgh. Can you imagine swinging in the shelter while you wait for that late PAT bus? His commentary about the times a-changing for outdoor play is bang-on as well: the 20-30 somethings are the last bunch to ave all those nostalgic outdoor adventures. Nick began with its Get out and Play spots and we thought, huh?  See what happens when people discover that quintessential outdoor plaything at their busstop in London: the swing.

The Creeping Oobleck!

Published by admin under Have you seen this?!

Nasty, amazing and just plain cool, the creeping oobleck starts moving when sound waves are applied to the metal sheet this guy’s holding in this awesome video. See what the Oobleck scares up!

What can you do with your water bottle?

Published by admin under In the world of art and tech

So they’re cute and colourful but what else can you do with Yves Behar’s Y-water bottles? Recycle them for one- they’re completely biodegradable. Healthful flavours like Brain Water and Health water, etc are full of good stuff and don’t have any harmful sugars to rot teeth. Besides not leeching chemicals (you’ve heard not to refill a water bottle because of this I’m sure), once used the neat little bottles can be locked onto other bottles to make whatever you wish. Inhabitots has photos of kids’ creations with their bottles.

Is your cereal tasting purple?

Published by admin under In the world of art and tech

I admit it, when I see certain colours I hear music and when I hear music, I see explosions of colour. My husband thinks I’m hilarious when I get something sour in my mouth because I feel it in my hands and scratch at them. Sometimes I’ve wondered if I have some form of synesthesia  (particular shades of colour give me a taste in the mouth not particularly congruent to the actual shade) and a project called Advanced Beauty over on ColourLovers (oh do I drool) have made a film “>based on the neurological experiences of Synesthasia patients. I’m in my glory at the moment, having just watched it.  A good book about synesthasia is Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks.

So real you’d want to take her out

Published by admin under In the world of art and tech

Meet Emily- real or not? Apparently not. Emily was created by Image Metrics (think Grand Theft Auto) and though she’s stunningly rendered, we think there’s something just a tad off on the lips. Oh well, they got the eyes bang-on, which is supposed to be the hardest part to pull over on a human..
